MAINTENANCE

Our team of experienced mechanics perform high quality repair work at a fair price. Integrity and honesty are at the top of our list when quoting and completing auto repair work. Our team is always available to answer questions and provide useful maintenance tips. We stress consistent maintenance over repair work to save our customers money in the long run. Simple maintenance is much cheaper than huge repairs, and it takes less time. We find that many of the most expensive repairs we complete are a result of overdue maintenance.
3D Alignment
Often confused with wheel alignment, a properly balanced wheel is a beautiful, perfectly tuned wheel-tire combination. Wheel balancing, also known as tire balancing, is when the weight of the combined tire and wheel assembly are equalized so that it spins smoothly and without interruption at high speeds. Balancing involves putting the wheel/tire assembly on a balancer, which centers the wheel and spins it to determine where the weights should go. We place measured lead weights on the opposite side of the “heavy spot” which is the noticeable tread wear on your unbalanced tire.
Tire wear is inevitable and as wear occurs, the balance will slowly and dynamically change over time. Weight imbalance is normal and just needs to be corrected as soon as possible to prevent any further issues over time. Correcting wheel imbalance early on saves you from having to spend money on new tires prematurely. Listen, we know good tires aren’t cheap and the mechanics at G&G Auto Repair are always looking for ways to save you some cash. Wheel balancing is a simple service that extends the life of your tires and helps you get every mile out of them before it’s time to replace them.
Oil Change, Lube, And Filter
The typical oil filter consists of a high strength steel housing containing various types of filtering media. An anti-drainback valve prevents oil from running out of the filter when the engine is off. Todays oil filters have a convenient spin-on design that makes removal and installation easy. The oil filter sifts out contaminants, allowing the oil to flow through the engine unrestricted. Should the oil filter become restricted or clogged with contaminants, they will flow around the filter. This bypassing is a safety mechanism, but you never want to let oil and filter changes go so long that bypassing takes place as it could cause damage to your vehicle.
Transmission Maintenance
Your transmission is a complex system of gears that transmit mechanical power to your engine, ultimately determining the rate of speed you travel. The transmission converts this power from the engine so that it can supply high torque at low speeds in addition to selecting which gears are appropriate based on the driving conditions. This is especially true with automatic transmissions—by far the most popular transmissions found in the U.S. Rather than using a clutch to engage the transmission, automatic transmissions use a torque converter (between the engine and transmission) to control the number of gears when driving. Supplying the power to regulate gear action is a demanding task, which is why it’s important for you to contact us, your transmission service specialists.
Tip:
-
Drain transmission and torque converter
-
Refill Automatic Transmission Fluids (ATF) with new fluid
